About Me

Dr. Claudio Freitas is Assistant Professor of First-Year Engineering at Purdue University Fort Wayne with bachelor in control engineering, master's in electrical engineering, and doctorate in engineering education. His main research interest lies in educational technology, Science, Technology & Society (STS), and engineering education for under-served and under-represented communities. He is a former senior engineer with 8+ years of industry experience in embedded and electrical systems. He also developed award-winning educational technology tools for humanitarian settings. He has won several industrial and academic awards, including the Young Scientist Award from the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy, best paper selected by the Duncan Fraser Award, and selected as part of the "Future Entrepreneur Initiative" supported by the Redempreendia program.
